Adding a Dog to the Family
The presence of a dog in our home brings about varied opinions to family members. Occasionally you are very contented with having a puppy in your house, but from time to time you even wonder why you need one. Having a very active dog in your house can very discouraging especially it behaves like a teen, and it ends up destroying your decorations and shopping. Therefore, to moderate how you live with your pooch, requires you to come up with easy ways on how to integrate the dog into the family so that it can also feel part and parcel of the household.
Of course, every Tom, Dick, and Harry will be delighted on the arrival of the dog, and as a result, they will flatter and indulge the dog in the best way they know how. It is not advisable to pamper the dog with that much attention however much you want to be around the dog.Consequently, abstain from pampering and smothering the dog and act as if nothing is going on.As a result, the puppy will gradually adjust staying with you and so will you.
Be careful with vehement rescue dogs as they use biting mechanism to defend themselves from strangers.Consequently, you should be able to give them their free space as they try to get used to their new environment.
Am sure you know how it feels to be on an empty stomach and how it feels when your dog distant itself from you. All this emerges when you do not nourish it appropriately.Make sure that you feed it with a hearty meal for it to grow healthy and for it to also feel that it means a lot to you.
Just like human beings, rewarding a dog makes it feel appreciated and loved; therefore use snacks such as chicken dog treats to strengthen the bond between you and your dog.
But then again, you can also use the snack to train your dog. Just like you take your human visitors through a tour of your house; it should also apply to the dog. In this way, the dog will familiarize itself with the house and it will walk around the house comfortably. Should you feel that you are overwhelming it, then do not walk it around the house.
Finally, establish a routine for your activities to avoid surprising the dog with impromptu events. The routine acquaints the dog of when different activities happen such as when they should take their daily walk and when to shift from that particular task to another.Hence, the new canine will only sleep when all the day-to-day operations are through.
With the above tips, it should not be difficult integrating the dog into your home.
